Post Post subject: Golcar v Meltham
As a spectator for 90 mins I will give you a cracking view of the game:

After a mad rush to switch the game to Golcar after Meltham decided at 7:30pm Tues night their ground wasn't fit, everything looked well up at Longfield Avenue, Cracking day, Plenty of supporters and a brand new kit, then DISASTER....Stuart Ramsden turns up, Uh Oh!

Game kicked off at 6.35pm (this is relevant later on, trust me) and Meltham started brightly and took the lead just after 10 minutes when some sloppy defending and hesitation from the debutant 17 year old goalkeepr was seized upon by none other than Tom Matthews who took one touch inside the 18 yard box and lashed a great strike across goal into the far side, 1-0!

Golcar seemed to get into the game a little then and played some decent stuff and should have been level  midway through th 1st half after great play from Danny Senior on  bottom side played in debutant Tom McCreadie, great first touch on the chest to bring the ball down however he blazed over from 6 yards with just the keeper to beat! Meltham threatened slightly but were limited to 20 yard plus efforts for rest of half. Golcar also had a few half chances and Sam Philpott in the Meltham goal made an awesome save from Carl Aitkin just before half time to keep the visitors lead in tact.

Second half Golcar started the strongest and were rewarded with a goal after 10 mins, after good work from Damo on left and some unbelievable trickery, strength and composure from Keiron in 7 yards of space allowed the red booted (shocking I know, I have already had words) forward to slip the ball to strike partner McCreadie to slot into an open goal. Then former cuckoo Carl Sykes was introduced to the game and made an immediate impact when turning his back on Philpott in an aerial challenge resulted in the keeper dropping the ball onto Sykes head the ball bounced off the post and back to the feet of sykes who squeezed it home from an almost impossible angle. Cue Stuart Ramsden, a very debatable handball 25 yards out resulted in 'The Best Free Kick' i have ever seen (including roberto carlos') George Dawson, 2 steps curled right into the far top  corner, class personified! Tom McCreadie then missed another great chance on the half volley when he again blazed over from 7 yards! Mr Ramsden then capped his night off magnificently after denying McCreadie a foul after he was rugby tackled from behind the Golcar management had a few choice words for the worlds worst ref, he then ran 20 yards (the most he did all night) to tell them to 'just bloody shut up will you, the lot of you' ahilst the game was going on, he gave a penalty from the halfway line for, of all things, a push in the back! Genius! Tom Matthews, no mistake. 3-2. Golcar then had a great chance with 5 minutes to go, (8.04pm) but unfortunately it fell to that man agian, Tom McCreadie who, true to form blazed over from a steady 3 yards! The second the ball went out Ramsden blew for full time..5 Mins early! Not Sour Grapes at all as I have said for years, dont take your chances at this level and you will lose matches, Simple.

Some things never ce tho and surely the league must realise that as every year this character gets older the worse he becomes, I wouldn't let him referee a fucking match!

As to why I was a spectator, Managers choice, I accept it and we go again on sat, hopefully will get a run out instead of displaying my not so great keepy uppy skills.

whilst everyone who plays in our league is aware of the failings of mr ramsden let me tell you all this.............he is not the worst ref in our league, that title has now been claimed by a newby who goes by the name of brett foster. dont want to wright a report cos everyone will just think that cos we lost its sour grapes...its not. lower hopton have improved but not massively.

yo are correct mr cuckoo king, some things never ce, season is only 1 game old and already you have a go at the ref. although that is the same stuart ramsden who blatently cheated in a reserve game ovenden v marsden in which marsden lost 2 - 1 after having 2 men sent off, including me for calling him a fxxxing cheating cxxt after he allowed an equaliser which was 15 yards off side,he wants locking in a room with neil warnock, that will teach him.

Agree with Top GK, Mr Foster had a nightmare. Ex Wibsey keeper handled the ball outside box and was told by Foster he would be getting a red card. Lwr hopton players protested and to Bay players astonishment Foster changed his mind and gave him a yellow. Keeper then kicked ball upfield. Bay midfielder fouled Hopton winger. Ref gave free kick and once again to everyones astonishment showed Bay player a red card, after 30 mins. Bay outplayed Hopton for rest of game even with 10 men,Hopton putting 9 men behind the ball. 15 mins from time Bay striker gets pulled back by shirt in box certain penalty. Foster waves play on saying its part n parcel of game. Fair enough. Bay continue to squander chance after chance until 5 mins from end, they equalise. Only 1 winner now. Hopton had totally gone. last minute Hopton get a corner. Ball comes in ,Foster blows. Ah well, draw not too bad with 10 men.Hopton well happy with draw.OH NO ! Foster had only given a penalty to Hopton for ? You guessed it. Shirt pulling !!! Its not part n parcel of the game anymore !!! Hopton not a bad side,a bit better than last season.  Bay will be disappointed they didnt win the game, never mind losing it. Long season ahead, will be a harder league, judging by last nights results.God forbid, whoever gets M r Foster. Apparentley,he has been kicked out of West Yoks League. Wonder Why ?

I must agree with craig123, Foster had a bad game. Not sure the keeper handled outside the box I am sure it hit his chest but if ref saw it as hand ball he should have walked. The bay lad who got red card may be a little harsh but had studs up, so maybe justified. The last min pen I don't how he could give that nowt different to any corner in the game. Bay played well, especially going down to ten men and had plenty of chances in the second half to win the game.
Hopton looked looked to suffer from nerves in the last 30mins and nearly lost it.

I strongly believe that during the course of a game, no matter how many mistakes a ref makes it will not determine the result of the game, the same with players. But every now and then, unfortunatley.the Stuart Marsdens, and Brett Fosters of this world,ce my opinion.Witout a shadow of a doubt, Brett Fosters shocking Decisions on weds determined the result of the game.
