ovenden vs kirkburtontook a trip to natty lane to watch todays game. wasnt a bad watch all in all. burton took the lead after about 20mins deservedly so after dominating the early stages should probably have scored at least another. ovenden equalised with about 15mins of the half left. set piece headed back across goal and finished off with a diving header. ovenden then dominated the rest of the game hitting the wood work 3 times but burton kept working hard and managed to equalise with seconds remaining scrammble in the box produced a fine save from ovendens keeper but with the save coming back off the post brendan aspinnal smashed home the leveller.
2 funny moments of the day dean calcutt warming up the atmosphere on a very cold day with a touchline bust up mid way through the second half. and an ovenden supporter saying "youve only got a point not won a fucking cup final" as burton celebrated wildly after equalising

I also joined the large crowd at Natty Lane.To quote Shane Kelly. Kirkburton should be called Dick Turpin Utd. How they got a draw out of the game i will never know. Ovenden have only themselves to blame.Ovenden are very strong at the back,but when put under pressure in last few minutes resorted to panic football.Just kicking it anywhere.They are not a pretty footballing team,playing route one football,but it will take a good team to beat em.Kirkburton were hardworking,but very lightweight up front.

harsh that craig. dick turpin utd? we deserve a bit of luck sometimes. if u had seen our two games against wibsey when we drew one and lost one after battering them wiv no luck then sometimes ya deserve some. and game yesterday for first 35 mins they never got out of there own half. like frankie said we could and should have been 2.0 up. threre first goal was very soft. they were better side in sec half and deserved to get in front. but we changed system and put them under cosh for last 10. and a game lasts till ref blows his whistle. and i thought we deserved a draw. great celabration. did our best for ya frankie.

Your right Digger. You should have been 2 nil up but once Ovenden scored your guys allowed them to dictate the game.Your forwards didnt protect the ball.And in the 2nd half i cant remeber Kirkburton having a shot until that injury time goal.The reaction of both teams at the end summed it up.Ovendens keeper looked suicidal.Must admit tho,your guys celebration after the equaliser was quality.

ya they are strong at the back and the winger was a good player. they are beatable and think bay are stronger and will beat them.
